A couple days ago Merry Lynn and LC went to Office Depot to pick up a JUS flip chart they had printed for us. The technician at the copy center mentioned that T came there frequently to print various JUS materials. So Merry Lynn asked if she had ever tasted JUS and she said no. "Would you like to try it?" "Sure." So Merry Lynn invited her to a tasting party. While speaking with the Office Depot employee, another lady happened to be at the counter. She apologized for eavesdropping and said she was very interested in this JUS stuff. Bottom line -- we have two new people who are very interested in JUS who both said they would come to a tasting party with us. [You did get their contact information, right Merry Lynn?]
Afterwards, LC commented "You're so lucky Merry Lynn. That never happens to me - people out-of-the-blue asking to come to a tasting party". Merry Lynn replied "Well, if you noticed, I'm the one who initiated the conversation about JUS. If I hadn't said anything we would have just picked up our stuff and left and that would've been the end of it." In network marketing you make your own "luck".
"Where's the drama" you ask? Right in front of your nose! A successful network marketing JUS business is made up of zillions of tiny seemingly insignificant events (mini-dramas) that, if you take advantage of them, result in an amazing successful business (and lots of happy healthy people to boot).

Today was a crazy busy day. Merry Lynn and I are helping some friends in our downline accelerate their JUS business by presenting the product/opportunity to 23 different people in a seven day span. Today we spent about five hours talking with four different individuals. Seriously draining, to be honest. I am an introvert (hence the title "shy network marketer"). I've actually learned to enjoy being around people, but it still drains me and I need to get away by myself to "recharge".
So where on earth did we find the time? Easy. No TV. Today was opening day of the Bucs football season. In years gone by, I would've spent six or more hours glued to the TV watching two football games. And all I would've had to show for it would be frustration that my team had lost. And a vague sense of depression, knowing that I wasn't going anywhere with my life. It's scary how easy it is for me to throw away my life, whether it is TV or computer games or surfing the internet or something else. No more! Not me! I've got a business. JUS! And it's growing. And with the income it is beginning to generate, I can dream about the future again. How about that for an all-natural cure for depression?!! Cool!

But Wait, There's More!
OK, I'm starting to fall seriously behind. Not an auspicious start!
Saturday evening, after the "Super Saturday" meeting, and after visiting JUS friends, Merry Lynn and I stopped by Walmart on our way home -- I needed a new pair of pants for the JUS International convention this week. Well, I didn't find any pants, but while Merry Lynn was waiting for me to try something on, she heard the changing-room-attendant comment "Oh, I'm so tired. I wish there was something out there that could give me more energy. Surely there must be something somewhere. If only something would help." I kid you not! Merry Lynn had no intention of talking to anyone about JUS that night. We were tired and mentally exhausted. But honestly, how could she not share JUS when the attendant was almost begging for JUS. So she reluctantly gave her our JUS business card and told her about JUS. I don't know what will come of it, but we are sowing seed.
Note: we failed to get a phone number from the Walmart attendant. Big mistake. We have no way of following up and inviting her to a tasting party or one-on-one presentation. Oh well, we're still learning.

Saturday Night and Everything's All Right
Tonight was "Super Saturday" night in Clearwater (Florida). No boring TV for us! We had much more fun getting together with a bunch of positive determined happy people -- the other JUS IBO's (Independent Business Owners) who are building their network marketing business just like us. Merry Lynn and I got to recount our experience with the "23 Club" challenge (more on that later) which was an amazing experience. Learned a bunch about the business, too. Thanks Melinda S and Tom and Laurie M and company!
But for me, the highlight of our evening happened after the meeting. We were able to visit some new friends in the business that couldn't make the meeting due to an extremely painful back injury. When Merry Lynn and I started this business, we didn't realize that one of the best things about network marketing would be all the new friendships we would develop. And this from a shy introvert who mostly felt uncomfortable being around new people. I love it! Praying for ya Joe!

The Chicken and the Armadillo
"Why did the chicken cross the road? To prove to the armadillo that it can be done!" ...Oh well, maybe you have to live in rural Florida to get it.
Anyway, the goal of this blog is to share the experiences of Merry Lynn and myself ("Hi", I'm Steve!) as we grow our network marketing business. You will see how much fun we are having. But we will also be transparent and share our disappointments and frustrations, too. And yes, we will be honest about the hard work it takes to succeed in this business (you do know this is a business, right?). Oh, but it is worth it!
So what does all of this have to do with the armadillo?
Well, for us, "getting to the other side of the road" represents building a successful network marketing business that is profitable and sustainable. And we're sort of hoping that as you watch Merry Lynn and me trying to get safely across the road without becoming roadkill (like so many armadillos), maybe you will find something useful for your own journey. So I guess that makes us the "chicken".
At the very least, it should be entertaining to watch.
